So here's something that might come as a shock, maybe even more so than me doing OC stuff is still relatively a recent thing: I wasn't always a fan of Clowns.

When you're young and 'slow' like I was, it takes a lot to overcome the smallest fears.

And seeing both Stephen King's It and Killer Klowns From Outer Space as a little kid with Asperger's made it nearly impossible to appreciate the artistry of Clowning.

Despite that, I still had some kind of odd fascination with Clowns as I grew in the coming years. I don't know how to describe it, but I always had some inclination towards Clowns or Clown adjacent characters in media, like Clown Man from Mega Man 8 or Harley Quinn from Batman: TAS. It was with characters like them that I was able to see Clowns in a better light, better understanding Clowns as a concept. Or something like that. I also owe thanks to BechnoKid and their Clown Alien OCs, the Balatrums, a race of dapper and dashing Clown folk that probably did a lot of the heavy lifting in quelling my fears.

Eventually my fear was conquered and I could finally enjoy Clowns. So much so that one day during my early OC Making Years of 2014 or so, which also coincided with my big Bancho Phase, I had a thought: What If I Made Clowns...That Were Bancho?

Ironically that would eventually lead to Tough Breaker with it's heavy Delinquent focus (at least during it’s High School era), but the seeds were still sown: Clown-Themed Battle Action was something I wanted to do and it'd appear in Tough Breaker with the likes of Kidd being a mainstay character. In fact, one facet of Kidd early on was that he was a budding artist who was making a Shounen-inspired Battle Comic of his own. And it just so happened that his cast was full of Clowns.

And what was supposed to be a fun little character detail eventually became its own little thing that I'm still working on a decade later. And much like TB, H-S has yet to be properly written as well...But hey.

If I conquer my fear of Clowns, I'll eventually write out Hi-Striker. Just gotta be patient with me!
